Early Access Trial

Once you submit your application, we'll review your project to determine whether it is a suitable fit for the early access trial. If shortlisted, we'll arrange an introductory call to discuss your study, research objectives, technical requirements, and implementation needs. Following the call, if your study meets the trial requirements, you'll receive a tailored proposal outlining the scope of the trial, pricing, and next steps. Once confirmed, we'll begin onboarding and support you through configuring and deploying your study on the Colinear platform. If we are unable to accommodate your project within the early access trial, you will receive priority access to the platform at public launch, alongside dedicated onboarding support to help you get started.

Participation in the Colinear early access trial is available from £6,000 per project. Pricing depends on the complexity of your study, including factors such as participant numbers, data collection requirements, connected devices, and any custom workflows. As an early access team, you'll receive discounted pricing, dedicated onboarding and support, and custom features built to meet the exact needs of your project. Additional discounts may be available for undergraduate, master's, and PhD student-led projects and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Yes, while we're based in the United Kingdom, we welcome applications from academic institutions around the world.

The early access offer currently supports a growing range of consumer and research-grade connected devices, including smartwatches, fitness trackers, Bluetooth-enabled health devices, and smartphone sensors. If your study requires a specific device or wearable, we'll assess compatibility during onboarding and work with you to determine the most appropriate integration approach.

The early access programme aims to support a wide range of user research studies based on different methodologies: feasibility or proof-of-concept studies, usability testing, machine-learning algorithm validation, data gathering, patient engagement research, and even pilot clinical studies. Our platform lends itself particularly well to studies featuring participatory and co-design methods, as Apps can be configured during user workshops and tested as part of the co-design or participatory process. You can configure workflows, collect multiple types of data, and iterate your app with real users, all while maintaining a safe, compliant research environment. Whether ethics approval is required depends on the purpose and design of your study. Colinear provides the technical infrastructure to support research studies but does not replace your institution's ethics review process. If your study involves collecting data from human participants, you will need to obtain the appropriate research ethics approval before deployment. During onboarding, we will work with you to understand your study requirements and ensure your Colinear configuration aligns with your approved research protocol. We can also support you during your ethics application and provide all necessary information related to data privacy, collection, storage and handling. If you are unsure whether your project requires ethics approval, we recommend discussing this with your institution's research ethics committee before beginning participant recruitment. You do not need to have ethics approval in place when applying for the trial, ethics can be obtained after acceptance onto the early access trial.

During the early access trial, our software engineers will work closely with your team to configure and deliver your application, providing technical expertise throughout the development and deployment process. The platform provides the tools to customise and test digital health applications, while our team supports you with more complex integrations, workflows, and technical requirements.
